How to get access to the Sunrise-III Data?

Access to the Sunrise-III data is free. However, to be able to download it, we ask you to register. After registration, you can check out the desired datasets from the list of observations and request a download.

Once we have received your download request, we will collect all data and transfer it to a fast online storage service and send you a link to your registered email address. You will be able to download the data via sFTP, rsync, or via web browser. However, since the data volume of a Sunrise-III Observation can be quite significant, it may take some time since your request is processed. You can check your personal download history and status page for further information. After you have received the link your data will be available for at least 48h for you to download.
Please find further information in the email with the download information.

Data usage policy

Gerneral Remarks

Sunrise-III data is made available to the public free of charge. Data available on this website are reduced to our best knowledge. The instrument teams continue to work on improving the data quality and hence we reserve the right to change the data sets at any time. Data reduction is still ongoing, and as of now only a small fraction of the data has been reduced. We will make the reduced data available as soon as it is released from the instrument teams. If you are interested in a data set that is not yet reduced and released, or if you request a specific data reduction level, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at sunrise_obs@mps.mpg.de. We will then increase the priority of the requested dataset and inform you, once it is available for download. If you encounter issues with the data, please do not hesitate to contact us via email. We ask you to properly acknowledge the data and the mission. Please find the instructions below.

Mandatory citations

If you use Sunrise-III data in a publication, we kindly request you to cite the relevant instrument papers listed below. At a minimum, please cite the following papers: the instrument overview paper (Korpi-Lagg et al. 2025), the flight, data and science overview paper (Solanki et al. 2026) and the paper describing the instrument(s) that gathered the data you use: Katsukawa et al. (2026) for SCIP, del Toro Iniesta et al. (2025) for TuMag and Feller et al. (2025) for SUSI.
For your convenience, you can download a prepared BibTex file with entries for all papers listed in the table below.
